Why summer camps can be considered an investment

Image
Summer camps aren’t as common in South Africa as they are in the United States. This is one of the reasons why you are likely to spend more money on a summer camp than you would on a typical holiday booking at an ordinary resort or lodge. Summer camps can range from as little as four-hundred Rands per person, per night, to nine-hundred Rands, all depending on the quality of the camp and what it has to offer. You cannot compromise on the quality of a summer camp to cut costs, which is why you should view summer camp as an investment.    There are many reasons why summer camp prices are a little upscale. Here’s how pricing of a summer camp can affect the experience the camp has to offer; Safety:   You cannot expect a cost-effective camp to have high-end security measures in place because; high-end security doesn’t come cheap. Be it equipment or general safety assurances, if a camp is cost conscious, you will not get the best in terms of safety, which is something...

5 Quick camp meals to prepare at home

Image
We all love a delicious, wholesome, meal. However, with our fast-paced lifestyles, it is often difficult to decide on a good option that’s quick, delicious and easy to prepare. The types of food served at most summer camps are carefully selected and tick all the boxes when it comes to being traditional, wholesome and on-the-go.    Since campers are away from home, summer camps make every effort to ensure that their campers are comfortable and do not feel homesick. In doing so, traditional, freshly-made food is prepared three times daily. These appetizing meals give campers the special feeling of “being at home” when they’re at camp. It also eliminates the unhealthy and quick option of grabbing take out and teaches campers to appreciate good, home-cooked meals.    With summer camp offering so many activities that require physical participation, healthy wholesome meals are a necessity. The meals served at camp need to provide campers with long-lasting energ...

5 Reasons why kids should go camping

Image
The fast-paced, modern-day living has kept our kids cooped up in their bedrooms, mostly in the company of technology. We only realize the negative impact of this lifestyle, when we notice that our kids shy away from physical activities and socializing, dislike the idea of being challenged, lack character and have no independence. The best way to repair this “detachment from authenticity” is by eliminating technology and replacing it with an opportunity to experience something tangible. This opportunity comes from camping. Camping has the greatest impact on children and teaches them what technology cannot. Here are 5 Reasons why kids should go camping: 1. Camp provides the opportunity to try new things. The activities practiced at camp pushes children out of their comfort zone and expose them to new activities and experiences. These opportunities assist them in discovering new hobbies or passions which will direct them in their future career choices. 2. Camp helps with the developm...

Some of the highlights of this week were the “Beach Party Night” and “A School of Fish Talent Show”. How to bring a Camp together

Image
Hello to all my campers. I know I have been off the radar for the past few weeks but after reading this you will understand why. But before I give you the exciting low down, go check out our awesome music video that we filmed during the June/ July holiday camps. You may just recognise someone. You have been waiting for this moment for weeks, hearing stories, looking at pictures and packing your bag. And now you are finally here! As you park, you are welcomed by a crazy dressed up character with a friendly smile. Walking through the colourful set up you think to yourself, "is this the place for me?" Then mom and dad leave and it's just you. As you sit on the stairs you look around at 100 new faces, and now it's time for your journey to start. For...
