Review: June/July Holiday Camps

Our June/July holiday camps at Sugar Bay were absolutely incredible! We were host to a total of 208 cool campers during the winter break. “Winter break”, hahaha, not sure why they call it a winter break on the warm KZN coast. The season didn't stop us from having as much Sugar Bay fun as we usually do in summer. We were fortunate enough to have sunshine throughout our holiday camps with a mild chill in the air during the evenings. If anything, we had a sunny Angry Birds week: 26 June – 3 July We took off with the Angry Birds as our first theme for our June/July holiday camps. Our camp was transformed into the life-size version of the popular mobile game and our campers were given the opportunity to spread their wings and have some extraordinary feather flocking fun! We even went on an excursion to the Umgeni Bird Park in Durban, keeping with the theme and learning more about the spectacular bird species that South Africa has to offer.  Check out the pict...

Our All-American Bash themed holiday camp was inspired by the 4th of July, American Independence day celebrations. This is one of the reasons why we continued to carry the celebration theme throughout the week, by celebrating other American festivals. The 4th of July isn’t just a reason to party. DIY: All-American Apple Pie

In celebration of All American Bash week here at Sugar Bay, we’ve decided to share a traditional all American Apple Pie Recipe with all of you. There’s nothing like a good old freshly baked apple pie. And we’ve been having great fun having ‘pie-face’ eating competitions, so why not spread the love… or the pie rather…  All-American Apple Pie Recipe:  Ingredients: •    Store-bought puff pastry •    6 to 8 freshly picked, firm Apples •    Granulated Brown Sugar •    Ground Cinnamon •    3 tablespoons sifted All-purpose Flour •    3 tablespoons Butter, cut in small bits Preparation: Prepare the pie dough, divide half and roll out each half no more than 3 mm thick. Line a pie pan with one. Keep lined pan and top crust chilled. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Celsius. Peel and core the apples and slice them. Toss with sugar, cinnamon and flour. Fill the pie with the apple slices....

  We have three holiday camps lined up with the freshest and most sought after themes. The holidays may be a few weeks away, but space is running out quickly. Forget winter! One of the perks of being situated along the Dolphin Coast is that we get to enjoy summer all year round at Sugar Bay. Your kids can still have as much fun as they want to without frost bite and winter tingles dampening their school holiday mood.
