Get to Know – Sesame

This week in our Sugar Bay Get to Know series, we get to know Sesame!

Named after the healthy seed and not after the Sesame Street Muppets, Sesame has been a counselor at Sugar Bay for 6 months.

Sesame, or Ses as many would call her, really enjoys stand-up-paddle-boarding (sup), space jump and king swing at Sugar Bay. She told us these were her absolute favourite activities at camp.

The other thing Sesame really loves at camp are the Chicken Schwarmas.

Ses described herself in 3 words as “Happy, Giving and always Willing!”

Sweet Ses, very sweet.

Sesame is quite a funny girl.
She told us about one of her most embarrassing moments at camp which had us in stitches:

“My most embarrassing moment at camp was when I walked head first into a member of ground staff who was carrying planks down the board walk. I was distracted, talking to the campers from my cabin and went head first into the planks! We all laughed so hard!”

How many of you were with Ses when this actually happened?

Must have been hilarious!

When we asked Sesame if she could be an animal, what would she choose to be, she replied;

“This is a hard one. But, I would choose to be a sloth, so that I can laze around all day and hang out with no excuses! HAHAHA!”

Ses the Sloth it is!

Sesame went on to tell us about the best part of her job as a Sugar Bay counselor;

“The best part of my job is meeting with amazing kids and getting to laugh and have fun with them everyday. The best part of it all is teaching them new things, and in return, learning from them as well. In the end, my heart is filled with love and happiness everyday.”

Sesame's most memorable camp was her first holiday camp as a counselor, Peanuts week. She described this camp as her best, because this was when she got to experience working as a counselor at Sugar Bay for the first time and got to spend time with some awesome kids that week.

“Every single camp is precious to me. To choose one would be difficult,”she added.
The counselor who inspires Sesame is Ember.

But Ses didn't stop there;

“Her loving and approachable personality is so awesome to work with. Actually, every counselor at Sugar Bay inspires me everyday, as they all have something great to offer to the camp and the kids which I am always willing to pick up on.”

Ses concluded her interview with us by saying;

“Sugar Bay is a place to discover yourself, love yourself, make amazing memories, a place to grow, and let your light shine. It's a place that teaches you valuable lessons in everything you do. It's a place that helps you face your fears and challenges you. Sugar Bay is what you make of it. It's your world!”
