Poodle to the Rescue!!

A happy hello to you all :) Let me tell you how my week has been.. Since we have no camps at the moment, I have had to keep myself entertained after work, which is great because I get to go on adventures and take photos :D However, my one adventure didn’t go quite accordingly to my plan.. It was a cloudy Monday, late afternoon.. I decided I wanted to go for a kayak and get some photos, so off I went.. Little did I know there were big, dark, clouds moving swiftly overhead.. Before I knew it, I felt little tiny droplets of water on my head. I looked up, and right above my head was a very dark, grey cloud, lingering.. I knew I had to start paddling back, so I turned my kayak around and off I went. The rain quickly turned from a slight sprinkle to a heavy shower! One problem: Our lagoon has broken, which means there was an immense amount of ocean water rushing into the lagoon.. Yes, I was trying to paddle against that current! My little arms were burning, and as fast a...

I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles, Pretty Bubbles in the Air...

What do you think of when you hear the word bubbles? What do bubbles mean to you? To scientists a bubble is a thin sphere of liquid enclosing air or another gas. To me, bubbles are little round rainbows of happiness that last for about 30 seconds and then POP they're gone! Bubbles have become a big part of the world, believe it or not! You have bubbles that keep children amused for hours. You have bubble gum, that chewy pink stuff that your learn to make bubbles using your mouth. If you have never gotten it stuck in your hair , trust me! You don't want to happen to you! There is so much more! Bubble bath, which turns your bath room into your very own foam pit and gets you clean at the same time. Bubbly which i...

International Love...

Hello Guys and Girls Last week Sugar Bay was lucky to have not one but TWO international schools join us at camp. We had Sifundzani from Swaziland and Maputo International from Mozambique. Both schools were very different and brought their own uniqueness to camp. They also got along with each other really well and enjoyed making friends with not only the counselors from South Africa but with campers from other countries too. The campers from Maputo International were excited from day one to get straight into the Sugar Bay fun. They loved both the land and the beach activities and participated in Team Building. The Maputo students had to work together as a team to complete various tasks. Their favorite out of them all was going through the obstacle course as a team. The campers from Sifundzani really enjoyed going to the Beach as some of the campers had never even seen the sea before. They took full advantage of all the beach activities and even got to go on an Excursion t...
