How to make a Jazzy Jeans Pencil Pocket

What a spectacular school holiday it's been for all our Sugar Bay campers this past December and January! And now after all that fun it's time to head back to school. Maybe you have done your stationary shopping, maybe you haven't? Either way, we've got you. Here at Sugar Bay, we love D.I.Y Projects! No need to head over to any stores, just make do with what you have.

We're helping you get back to school in style by showing you how to create a Jazzy Jeans Pencil Pocket!

You will need:

  • The bottoms of an old pair of jeans
  • A button
  • A needle
  • Cotton
  • An old doily/crochet cloth/ornament mat
  • Some felt decorations/beads
  • Fabric Glue

Steps:

  1. Cut up the bottom half of your jeans to twice the size that accommodates your pencils.

  2. Glue the cut pieces together. Allow to dry for 30 minutes.

  3. Fold the jeans in half. Stick half of the doily on the back side of the jeans and allow to dry for 20 minutes.

  4. Sew a button on the front middle section of the jeans.

  5. Fold the seemed/bottom half of your jeans over to ensure that your button fits into the doily so that pencil pocket is able to close.

  6. Decorate with felt decorations or beads of your choice.

Jazzy Tip:

  • Add sequins to make random shapes across your Jazzy Jeans Pencil Pocket and make it outstanding!

And there you have it! You're now officially jazzed up for a jolly first day back at school!
