Review: March/April/May Holiday Camps

March 2016:

Adventure Time Week: 20–27 March 2016

The first school holiday of 2016 commenced with an astounding Adventure Time themed holiday camp. Every day was turned into an adventure for our campers just as it were in the cartoon network series, Adventure Time, with Finn the human and Jake the dog. Our campers also went on a Beemo (the little blue gaming box) inspired excursion to the gaming arcade in the Gateway Theatre of shopping. Adventure Time week ended with a burst of colour, with a Rainicorn colour festival.

The Maze Runner Week: 27 March–3 April 2016

Before campers realized it, they were waking up in the Glade. Suddenly, all our adventurers were transformed into Maze Runners and had to escape the gruesome Grievers all week long. The experience got real when our Maze Runners were taken on a camp-out and had to survive a night in the maze. They also had an exciting excursion to the Crocodile Creek in Ballito.

April 2016:

The Peanuts Week: 10–17 April 2016

Camp was then bombarded by Red Barons and there were definitely barking dogs heard too. Snoopy and the Peanuts were in the house! Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock and the rest of the Peanuts gang made their special appearance at Sugar Bay. Campers were given the opportunity to literally “go nuts” all week long as they participated in an array of peanut associated activities. The highlight of the week was, of course, the electrifying excursion to the Barnyard Theatre, where our campers watched the thrilling stage production, “90's Mania”.

Superheroes versus Villains Week: 17-24 April 2016

War began to rage between the superheroes and villains of Marvel and DC, and this is when Sugar Bay transformed into Comic Con and it was time for Superheroes versus Villains week. From Spider-Man to the Silver Surfer, we had them all at camp ready to battle it out and determine who is the ultimate superior. We went all out and took the battle to another level as we travelled to the Galleria Ice Rink in Amanzimtoti and created our very own, “Superheroes and Villains on Ice” show.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Week: 24 April-1 May 2016

Something started cooking at Sugar Bay... Perhaps this is how we drove straight into Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives week. Inspired by the Food Network's popular show, hosted by the fabulous food lover, Guy Fieri, camp was turned into a food lover's paradise. Each day was themed accordingly to a different country with the idea of giving campers an experience to taste the different cuisine of the world in just one week.

May 2016:

Spin n Win Week: 1-8 May 2016

As if that wasn't enough, we decided to get crazy over here and host another authentic holiday camp altogether. This is when we introduced Spin n Win week. The aim of this camp was to feature some of the best camp themes every day, in an outrageous spin the wheel to win and determine the theme, the food, and the prize, game show concept motif. It was ludicrous! Our campers were also treated to an illustrious excursion to Ushaka Marine's Wet 'n Wild Water Park, where they had an incredible experience splashing away and having a blast
