5 Essential Camping Gear

Send your kids camping they said, it would be fun they said.
For the kids yes, but for the parents… uh uh.
Especially, not when it comes down to the packing.

However, like always… you can chill out, because we at Sugar Bay have certainly got your backs.
We know that packing your child’s suitcase for camp can be difficult, this is why we always send through a packing list for each and every of our holiday camps.
However, very often we find that our campers pack more than what’s required of them and this is usually why we have to deal with lost property.
It is imperative parents understand that the full camping experience cannot be achieved without the correct gear.

Here is a list of the essential camping gear all campers require:

Like the popular rhyme-“Head and shoulders, knees and toes”, we’ve decided to start from the top.

Every camper needs to have packed:

1. Head:

· A Sun Hat/Cap

· A Beanie

2. Shoulders:

We always recommend t-shirts for kids as they accommodate both warm and cooler temperatures. A hoodie is also a must! When choosing a hoodie, choose one that is lightweight and waterproof so that it can accommodate rainy weather.
Now that we’ve got your head and shoulders covered, let’s head to knees and toes.

3. Knees:

One pair of shorts and one pair of long track pants is all you need to enjoy both weather conditions when out camping. Just like the hoodie, your track pants and shorts should be lightweight and water resistant. Your long track pants will get you through the rainy weather and long forest walks, whilst your shorts will get you through the sand and sea and keep you cool during the scorching summer days at camp.

And down to the toes…

4. Toes:

The best camping footwear would be plastic wellingtons and of course flip flops. By packing these two foot essentials you will have your feet and toes covered for both the rain and the sun and then you can splash in the puddles, slide on the sand and have lots and lots of fun!

5. Back pack:

It is essential you carry a camper pack/bag which is easily at your disposal all day everyday when camping.

This bag should always include:

· A first aid kit

· Sunscreen

· Water

· Insect Repellent

· A head lamp
