A-Maze-ing Maze Runner Pizza

“Beds were assigned, clothes and bathroom things were passed out, dinner was served. Pizza. Real, bona fide, greasy-fingers pizza.”

Even we licked our lips when we read these sentences in James Dashner’s The Maze Runner Novel.

Inspired by the delicious delicacy of the Maze Runner movie… Let’s make our very own A-maze-ing Maze Runner Pizza.

A-Maze-ing Maze Runner Pizza:

Base Ingredients:

·        250 ml cold milk
·        15 ml baking powder
·        2 cups flour
·        60 ml olive oil
·        5 ml salt

Method:

1.      Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl
2.      Stir in milk and olive oil until a soft dough forms
3.      Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead 10 times.
4.      Shape dough into a ball.
5.      Cover dough with an inverted bowl and let sit for 10 minutes.
6.      Roll dough into a large circle on a baking sheet.

Topping Ingredients:

·        1 packet sun-dried tomato pesto
·        250 ml grated mozzarella cheese
·        250 ml halved cherry
·        Tomatoes seasoned with green onion seasoning
·        A handful of fresh basil leaves, torn
·        Olive oil for drizzling

Method:

1.      Spread pesto over the bases to the edges and bake for about 7 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until puffed and just beginning to colour at the edges.
2.      Remove from the oven. Sprinkle the cheese over the bases and dot with the seasoned tomato halves. Add some torn basil leaves before baking.
3.      Drizzle with olive oil and bake each pizza for a further 10 minutes until the bases are nicely browned and crisp.
4.      Garnish with the remaining basil.
